I am an East Coast expatriate hiding out in the Midwest... I am an urban gal living in the suburbs and occasionally hiding in the country I am a yoga practitioner, fitness enthusiast, believer in the mind-body-spirit connection... I am a mid-life "revert" to the Roman Catholic faith in which I was raised and which has become an enormous source of support, encouragement, inspiration, and joy in my life... I am a mom, sister, daughter, and wife... I am an explorer; adventurous and curious about the world and people around me... I am educated in the formal sense but I gain insight through everyday living... I created this blog at a time of great fear and apprehension in my life. I chose to sustain it because of the discoveries about myself and the world around me that it has revealed. What you can expect to find here: the documentation of a love-hate relationship with the greater Philadelphia area reminiscing about the good-ole-days (the 80's!) complaints about my various ailments and injuries, both real and imagined pictures and stories of gardening, decorating, shopping, sewing my love of irony links to kooky news stories way too much scatological musing for sane people

My disgusting media fantasies...
So...
*ahem" *cough* *cough*
I'll just blurt out my GRODY, SCARY but puzzlingly "erotic" dream-man from Thursday night was none other than admitted phone-sex harasser, Bill "no spin zone" O'Reilly.

Now, I have read other blogs where people interpret their dreams. In my case, my dreams usally reflect something that entered my visual cortex sometime shortly before falling asleep. In the case of " Don't look at me sideways 'cause I have a waddle like a turkey" O'Reilly, I happened to catch part of his show, while he was administering a verbal spanking to the Democratic party, and Al Sharpton was taking it as the spank-ee. The conversation between the two of them stuck in my mind because Al was genuinely cracking Bill up, they seemed to have some sort of camraderie going on, and I wagered in my own mind's off-track betting parlor that they'd be going to grab a drink together after the show.
And somehow my thoughts of " spanking" and " O'reilly" got all jumbled up in my subconscious and decided to make a nocturnal inner-mind video combing the two, and um, throwing me in the mix as well. Now you KNOW I must be a pretty self-assured person to admit to THAT! ;)
Which now leads me into my true media crush-of-the-moment. It is none other than loud-mouthed Philly-expatriate himself, Chris Matthews. I developed a crush on him while watching extensive coverage of the two conventions and catching an occasional episode of Hardball now and again on also-ran cable news channel MSNBC.
I found out on some blog somewhere in the vast rumor-mill that is the internet, that he dyes his hair that yellowish hue. And that, though you can't see it on camera, that he has a sizeable paunch going on under the news desk. Ick.
Nonetheless, its obvious to me why Mr. Hardball (!) puts a twinkle in my eye: he looks, speaks, and has the same attitude and sense of humor as another smart-ass, older, charming Irish guy I knew many years ago. But that's ancient history. I think I'll give Chris a few more days on my fantasy list; then perhaps I'll move on to a new flavor of the week.
But who is left?
Anderson" my mom used to make cheesy bluejeans in the 70' and now is a major designer for Khols" Cooper? Uh, no.
George " I got that Davy Jones thing going on" Stephanopoulos? Doubtful.
I think I'd like to poll the readers and find out who their crush-able, "spongeworthy" media types are. Note: Limited to news and quasi-news only. Does that mean we can include super-hunky rocker Mark McGrath because he's a co-host of EXTRA? Sorry, but no. Can women be included? Of course! I once had a non-sexual "admiration" for Ashleigh Banfield, so why the heck not.
Start channel-surfing, folks, and let me know who makes your heart skip a beat.

 | Posted by brandy101 @ 11/10/2004 10:27 AM PST | | ooh, yeah, that Dan Devone guy does have an intrigue about him ;)
Speaking of sportscasters on e of my faves is WGN/Channel 9's Mike Barz ...mmmmmm! He's not only handsome but really chaming/funny...that lethal combo for us gals... *sigh*
 | Posted by FreudianSlip @ 11/10/2004 08:21 AM PST | | Ok, I've been waiting for the right moment to make this confession...
I have the hots for Dan Devone... he's a Seattle sportcaster and omg is he hot. * DROOL * I know that you probably wanted a different answer but you gotta take a look.. hehe... http://q13.trb.com/kcpq-bio-dand.htmlstory
 | Posted by Lyly @ 11/09/2004 09:07 PM PST | | | I loved "The Mole". I've saw all 4 cycles of it (non-celeb and celeb). The Anderson ones were great. | |
 | Posted by brandy101 @ 11/08/2004 11:49 PM PST | | | To me, the funny thing about Anderson Cooper is that my first encounter with him on TV was when he was host of "The Mole" - that wierd reality series that ABC put together after the first wildly successful season of Survivor. I then later saw a bio of him and his career somewhere and its interesting. He basically financed his own entre into the journalism world by scamming his way into a press pass and then paying locals to drive and film him on location in Africa covering, um, I forget which insurgency it was...but anyway, that's how he cut his teeth and got his street cred. | |
 | Posted by Lyly @ 11/08/2004 10:06 PM PST | | Yeah, shame I'm not Anderson "Gun Metal Grey" Cooper's "type." (GMG is the name of his fan club. He was teased about it on air, to his embarrassment.) I love the way he out-anchors the arrogant Aaron Brown and how Aaron hurls thinly-veiled insults toward Anderson.
Anyway, hmm, none of these guys make my heart 'skip a beat'. For the women, Tina Fey (SNL) is interesting and very funny (and can dance!), but I'm not attracted to her.
 | Posted by SOSwryter @ 11/08/2004 07:06 AM PST | | hmmm. let's see. oh, I know...
I once had a VERY WEIRD dream like you are describing starring that Australian guy....George -something- He used to have a talk show.....

 | Posted by Mephisto @ 11/07/2004 04:52 PM PST | | | For me, it's got to be Jane Skinner on Fox News -- oh, and who could resist the lovely Laurie Due? Hummina ... I'm not much of a Fox News lover, but I must admit that ol' Rupert found some beautiful women to read his spin to us ... | |
 | Posted by brandy101 @ 11/07/2004 12:51 PM PST | | sure, Shalloola, the TODAY show counts. although you are right; its mutated into mere "infotainment" at this point.
| |
 | Posted by Shalloola @ 11/07/2004 01:37 AM PST | | Excuse me a moment...I need to shudder. *ewwshuddereww*
ok....I know of a really great doc in the States that can cure you of your Bill O'Reilly syndrome. Because THAT needs to be nipped in the bud before it gets out of hand. ha!
As for hottie anchors? Hmm. Matt Lauer, pre-balding days, was kinda cute...in a pompous-stick-up-his-arse-jerky-sorta way. Does the Today Show count? They also concentrate on fashion and weddings....so maybe they're not even contenders.
 | Posted by raejane @ 11/06/2004 06:25 PM PST | | lmao!!
Ho boy.
That's so funny... and Miss Ginger.. me too... In a bow tie and nuthin' else....lol
 | Posted by Nic @ 11/06/2004 03:30 PM PST | | | I thought I was Demented until I read the blurb about O'Reily; now thats just plain twisted. Katie Kuroc's mouth had me thinking, but wasn't enough. Now Oprah, I've undressed her in my mind on several occasions. | |
 | Posted by Miss Ginger @ 11/06/2004 02:43 PM PST | | Well, you know I have my Tucker Carlson fantasy. Aside from that, hmmm...let's see who else is on CNN...
If Anderson Cooper wasn't a flaming homosexual, I would find him pretty damned hot. Ooooh, Dr Sanjay Gupta is HOT. So is Bill Hemmer.
