I am an East Coast expatriate hiding out in the Midwest... I am an urban gal living in the suburbs and occasionally hiding in the country I am a yoga practitioner, fitness enthusiast, believer in the mind-body-spirit connection... I am a mid-life "revert" to the Roman Catholic faith in which I was raised and which has become an enormous source of support, encouragement, inspiration, and joy in my life... I am a mom, sister, daughter, and wife... I am an explorer; adventurous and curious about the world and people around me... I am educated in the formal sense but I gain insight through everyday living... I created this blog at a time of great fear and apprehension in my life. I chose to sustain it because of the discoveries about myself and the world around me that it has revealed. What you can expect to find here: the documentation of a love-hate relationship with the greater Philadelphia area reminiscing about the good-ole-days (the 80's!) complaints about my various ailments and injuries, both real and imagined pictures and stories of gardening, decorating, shopping, sewing my love of irony links to kooky news stories way too much scatological musing for sane people

Contrary to my usual patterns of fleeting crushes/fantasies/fetishes, my Chris Matthews "interest" is still going strong. I went to the library today and checked out his 1988 book "Hardball" and just to mess with the heads of any FBI dudes who might be checking my library records, I also checked out a book by Ann Coulter and a biography on the life of St. Francis of Assisi. Hehehehe, sneaky me! Although, I do genuniely intend on reading them all. Even Ann...unless some of her rants make my blood pressure go up, of course!
To all of my blog buds out there who are experiencing hardships of one kind or another, please know that I am sincerely sending all many positive thoughts and prayers your way!

 | Posted by Lyly @ 11/09/2004 10:25 PM PST | | | I meant transexual regarding Anne, not transvestite. I've heard people debate whether or not she has a visible Adam's Apple. | |
 | Posted by Lyly @ 11/09/2004 07:53 PM PST | | Anne has no ovaries. SHE'S A MAAAAN, BABY! ahem. SNL jokes aside, I'm serious when I say that she looks masculine. Even if she were very girly, she'd still look like a man. When first saw her, in 2000 maybe, on Politically Correct, I thought she was tranny. Seriously.
Adam- I saw part of it on Sunday but missed Bill getting reamed. The last episode I saw was the one right before the election, with Bradford Whitley of "The West Wing". He and Bill were cackling about the GOP; somehow, it was forboding, a bad omen on the Dems. It gave me a funny feeling; and now look where we are. I guess Ashcroft resigning (yea!) is a good consulation prize, but let's see who his replacement is.
 | Posted by brandy101 @ 11/09/2004 09:30 AM PST | | I agree, Meph - I like to be informed about what different sides are doing/thinking/saying...
And, raejane, I love St. Francis and the Fransican method of prayer. I know I'll be expounding on it alot more later. However, there is GREAT info in the St. Francis link in this post to St. Anthony's Messenger magazine - a very "smart", informative, empathetic American Fransiscan publication.
 | Posted by raejane @ 11/09/2004 08:26 AM PST | | I don't know about Anne, but I have done some research on St. Francis and what a great man!
Of course, I'm a huge animal lover...
Am I rambling.....

 | Posted by mephisto @ 11/09/2004 08:18 AM PST | | | I'm one of the very few who reads both Ann Coulter and Michael Moore. They have a lot in common -- you could say that they deserve each other. Reading these two helps keep me "between the ditches," politically-speaking ... | |
 | Posted by brandy101 @ 11/09/2004 01:13 AM PST | | Its funny because I finished a section of this book (Slander) where she criticizes media - "liberal" media", natch - for making derrogatory commentary toward women on their looks. Example: Linda Tripp. Paula Jones, etc, who were not called out solely for what they did, but were villified further for being "ugly". I agree - its not nice stuff.
But then I got to thinking, especially after reviewing her picture "gallery" on her website, that no one would give a rat's ass what she had to say if she wasn't a tall, thin blonde!
I mean, if she were heavy-set, full of moles, and in need of an upper-lip waxing, she'd likely not have a soap box to stand on. It works both ways, Anne.
 | Posted by Adam @ 11/08/2004 11:59 PM PST | | LOL Lyly, I thought I was the only one who watched Real Time. :D
Did you catch this week's episode? That ex-Senator from Wisconsin and Andrew Sullivan (andrewsullivan.com) were riding Bill pretty hard. First time I had ever seen him get worse than he gave, but we just lost the election so I guess it was to be expected.
Ann Coulter's book should be burned though. At least it could provide some use to someone by radiating heat for a while...
 | Posted by brandy101 @ 11/08/2004 11:45 PM PST | | yeah, Anne is a hoot...sometimes I wonder if she really has ovaries ;)
ok, ok, all mean-ness aside...I found a few valid points so far, but nothing that's gonna make me want to invite her out for a latte anytime soon ;)
 | Posted by Lyly @ 11/08/2004 09:56 PM PST | | Anne Coulter, trembling psycho. Not my fave person. I won't repeat the names that Bill Maher called her 'in jest' on his show.
I'll be interested to see your reviews of the books.
