I am an East Coast expatriate hiding out in the Midwest...

I am an urban gal living in the suburbs and occasionally hiding in the country

I am a yoga practitioner, fitness enthusiast, believer in the mind-body-spirit connection...

I am a mid-life "revert" to the Roman Catholic faith in which I was raised and which has become an enormous source of support, encouragement, inspiration, and joy in my life...

I am a mom, sister, daughter, and wife...

I am an explorer; adventurous and curious about the world and people around me...

I am educated in the formal sense but I gain insight through everyday living...

I created this blog at a time of great fear and apprehension in my life. I chose to sustain it because of the discoveries about myself and the world around me that it has revealed.

What you can expect to find here:
  • the documentation of a love-hate relationship with the greater Philadelphia area
  • reminiscing about the good-ole-days (the 80's!)
  • complaints about my various ailments and injuries, both real and imagined
  • pictures and stories of gardening, decorating, shopping, sewing
  • my love of irony
  • links to kooky news stories
  • way too much scatological musing for sane people

    Summer Breeze, Part Deux...(rated pg-13)

... and as I promised soswryter and Lyly, who both noted, vis-a-vis an internet quiz, their interest in nude bathing at a European beach, I offer the following joke:

Q: Why don't women drink beer at the beach?

A: They don't want to get sand in their Schlitz!

What's likely even more humorous than this goony joke is that I told it to my dear great Uncle George (my grandmother's brother-in-law) when I was three years old. He laughed his porkpie hat off! My mother was mortified.

Ah! Now that I think of it, I wasn't nude. Just topless and I was about 16. I was also just tanning.

    Harmless.
    Really.

Aww shucks don't kids just say the darndest things. LOL I love that joke. Yes there are a few nude beaches here in Massachusetts mostly in Provincetown, whichhappens to be the gay and lesbian nook in the Northeast - it is down on the very tip of Cape Cod.

The only public, state-run nude beach in the state is 2 miles from my house: Hippy Hollow. Unfortunately, it's very rocky, not a long, sandy St. Tropez-like place. Hence my wish. As for the sand in my schlitz, I'll just have to take a long, hot bath afterwards.

Actually there are some nude bathing areas in the us. But the info I've gotten is that they aren't necessaily places you'd take the whole family.

In Denmark, beaches are marked as "textile" for the faint of heart, but most other beaches are nude or clothing-optional. and not in a prurient way.

My theory is that people who don't get alot of warm weather during the year want to get as much sunshine as possible when they can. :)

Aren't their nude beaches in the states?
Or was that just me doing something illegal?
