I am an East Coast expatriate hiding out in the Midwest...

I am an urban gal living in the suburbs and occasionally hiding in the country

I am a yoga practitioner, fitness enthusiast, believer in the mind-body-spirit connection...

I am a mid-life "revert" to the Roman Catholic faith in which I was raised and which has become an enormous source of support, encouragement, inspiration, and joy in my life...

I am a mom, sister, daughter, and wife...

I am an explorer; adventurous and curious about the world and people around me...

I am educated in the formal sense but I gain insight through everyday living...

I created this blog at a time of great fear and apprehension in my life. I chose to sustain it because of the discoveries about myself and the world around me that it has revealed.

What you can expect to find here:
  • the documentation of a love-hate relationship with the greater Philadelphia area
  • reminiscing about the good-ole-days (the 80's!)
  • complaints about my various ailments and injuries, both real and imagined
  • pictures and stories of gardening, decorating, shopping, sewing
  • my love of irony
  • links to kooky news stories
  • way too much scatological musing for sane people

    I need sunshine...

Winter Blahs, Seasonal Affective Disorder, Cabin Fever...

Well, whatever you want to call it I think I have a touch of it today and so to reflect on warm, blue skies of days past, I offer the following photos from August, 2004. Yet more surfing pics, although  man, was it WINDY that day!  There was a crazy southbound "current" although it was really just the wind pushing the water - and us on our funboards - in that direction. I think we are giggling because we were struggling to hold the boards upright for the picture due to those gusts. I think the clouds look very cool , if not slightly intimidating. I think this was one of the first times I went out on a "real" board before - my sister is pretty darn good and she gave me some good pointers, even though it was a lousy day for it.

And here we are "setting up" to attempt to catch a ride in...

I am looking forward to more surfing this summer...until then I will have to manage to navigate the ice pond in my yard.

WOW you surf. I am duly impressed. I think a woman that can surf is very sexy. No I am not a lesbian I am happily married. I just think it is a sexy thing for a woman to do. That and play the sax.

yes, actually there have been surfers killed or injured by sharks at the Jersey Shore, esp. when the water is warm - around August/Sept. However in Brigantine there are lots of dolphins so we are more likely to have them accompany us, esp. on a calm day, when you can kayak out a bit deeper. They are so friendly!

Hey, B, do you use all that gnarly surfin' lingo, like?

Cabin fever to the max! It also reminds me that I missed a whole summer. I went to the beach once last year: the afternoon before my accident ... hmmm ...

Looks pretty windy out there. You guys have sharks? We get attacks a couple of times a year.
