I am an East Coast expatriate hiding out in the Midwest... I am an urban gal living in the suburbs and occasionally hiding in the country I am a yoga practitioner, fitness enthusiast, believer in the mind-body-spirit connection... I am a mid-life "revert" to the Roman Catholic faith in which I was raised and which has become an enormous source of support, encouragement, inspiration, and joy in my life... I am a mom, sister, daughter, and wife... I am an explorer; adventurous and curious about the world and people around me... I am educated in the formal sense but I gain insight through everyday living... I created this blog at a time of great fear and apprehension in my life. I chose to sustain it because of the discoveries about myself and the world around me that it has revealed. What you can expect to find here: the documentation of a love-hate relationship with the greater Philadelphia area reminiscing about the good-ole-days (the 80's!) complaints about my various ailments and injuries, both real and imagined pictures and stories of gardening, decorating, shopping, sewing my love of irony links to kooky news stories way too much scatological musing for sane people

Pass the Leftovers and the Drywall
Not alot planned on this bleak (in terms of temperature outdoors, amount of sunshine predicted, etc.) weekend except typical stuff. Each Saturday, hubby and child prepare a big breakfast of apple pancakes (they are really more like crepes) and bacon (turkey bacon for me), coffee, juice, etc. They let me sleep in until the meal is ready (Hooray!) and then I clean up the dishes post-meal, while hubby does the household bills, checks email from work, etc.
As per usual I am still in my "loungewear" (read: old tattered t-shirt, sweatpants, and slippers), and enjoying some computer time after completing my "chores" for the morning (laundry, laundry, cleaning bathroom, and more laundry.)
Tonight I think we are planning to savor the microwavealicious goodness of leftover Chinese takeout. We tend to buy extra as the dishes we order usually reheat quite nicely. Obviously, we eat the egg rolls first as they do not fare well on day two.
Tomorrow we plan to attend a "home improvement show" at our local community college as we *may* endeavor to add on to this tiny cottage as soon as this summer. This one bathroom business is getting on our nerves, as is the lack of storage for "stuff" or, ahem, more people. Anyone get the hint there as to other intended plans?
No, it hasn't happened *yet" but it may be in the gameplan. We shall see...

Sounds like quite a job, but I'm sure the show your attending will help you get something resembling a handle on it. If I remember correctly (and I probably don't), you're in the Arlington Heights area, right? Did you go to Harper College today??
Good luck to your husband on his job search. I'm sure something bubbling up right now!
As for me, the sad thing is my miserable student-teaching experience has forced me to re-evaluate my decision to enter the profession. I may still, but Brandy you have no idea. Thankfully, I remain employed so if worse comes to worse I still have a job. | |
