I am an East Coast expatriate hiding out in the Midwest...

I am an urban gal living in the suburbs and occasionally hiding in the country

I am a yoga practitioner, fitness enthusiast, believer in the mind-body-spirit connection...

I am a mid-life "revert" to the Roman Catholic faith in which I was raised and which has become an enormous source of support, encouragement, inspiration, and joy in my life...

I am a mom, sister, daughter, and wife...

I am an explorer; adventurous and curious about the world and people around me...

I am educated in the formal sense but I gain insight through everyday living...

I created this blog at a time of great fear and apprehension in my life. I chose to sustain it because of the discoveries about myself and the world around me that it has revealed.

What you can expect to find here:
  • the documentation of a love-hate relationship with the greater Philadelphia area
  • reminiscing about the good-ole-days (the 80's!)
  • complaints about my various ailments and injuries, both real and imagined
  • pictures and stories of gardening, decorating, shopping, sewing
  • my love of irony
  • links to kooky news stories
  • way too much scatological musing for sane people

    Battle of the Bulge

Doc called and the MRI revealed a bulging disc, but thankfully no hematoma or infection. So I have to just keep my feet elevated when I sit down, etc. I think it will help alot once I can get back on my Pilates Reformer machine - its what I used long ago for phys. therapy for my knee. Its also supposed to be good for the back but I know I won't attempt any "short spine" exercises anytime soon (its where you roll backward almost like The Plow in Yoga...).

Abby - Yeah Father Steve is a cutie...er, that's wierd to say about a priest...he's kinda like a teddy bear type guy...asexual but really with this warm and funny personality.

Giggles - I think Down DOg might be off the list for me as of yet...I'm going to research what moves are ok to start out with and then build back up to my former "poer yoga" 20-min routine. :) I give all of y'all a big "Namaste" shout out!!! :)

Michelle - Yeah it was really an inexpenisve one (I think about $129 or so many years ago)but it does the trick. It folds up and we keep it in the basement; I use it with 2 videotapes that have special 30-min. wokrouts to do with the machine.

I image the Pilates will help a lot once you're feeling up to it. Yoga has been helping me tremendously with my spinal maladies of late!!

Let's downward dog together, shall we? :o)

Phew. Make sure you actually rest and take care of that. Do you really have a Pilates Reformer machine IN your house?

Geez, whoda thought I'd be happy to hear you have a bulging disc? Well, at least happy to hear it's not a hematoma or infection. spinal surgery? Yikes!

And Father Steve sounds wonderful. No, I've never heard of a priest turning down a donation. Beautiful.

Hope your condition improves and your symptoms ease and you're back on pilates and yoga soon!
