I am an East Coast expatriate hiding out in the Midwest...

I am an urban gal living in the suburbs and occasionally hiding in the country

I am a yoga practitioner, fitness enthusiast, believer in the mind-body-spirit connection...

I am a mid-life "revert" to the Roman Catholic faith in which I was raised and which has become an enormous source of support, encouragement, inspiration, and joy in my life...

I am a mom, sister, daughter, and wife...

I am an explorer; adventurous and curious about the world and people around me...

I am educated in the formal sense but I gain insight through everyday living...

I created this blog at a time of great fear and apprehension in my life. I chose to sustain it because of the discoveries about myself and the world around me that it has revealed.

What you can expect to find here:
  • the documentation of a love-hate relationship with the greater Philadelphia area
  • reminiscing about the good-ole-days (the 80's!)
  • complaints about my various ailments and injuries, both real and imagined
  • pictures and stories of gardening, decorating, shopping, sewing
  • my love of irony
  • links to kooky news stories
  • way too much scatological musing for sane people

These Boots are Made for Rich Kids

Check out the latest ripoffs from Urban Outfitters:

Ah, I get it, retro- 80's moonboots. Is it me, or is $80 is alot of dough to shell out to be Napolean-Dynamite-esque ironic?

Then we have my perrenial fave, the ever-so-punk "lace up combat boots":

Yeah, every punk rock kid has $98 sitting around to shell out for these stompers...what happens when you step in a puddle of something-or-another at your regular mosh pit? Send them out to the cleaners?

yeah, lots of bucks for those boots! still, it doesn't seem so bad to me considering my boys routinely buy $150+ (yes) skateboard shoes. like, at least twice a year, sometimes more often depending on their growth, how hard they are on their shoes and how well-constructed their current shoes are, etc. all I can say is thank heavens they're both sponsored by skate shops now - they get discounts!!

oh Michelle, Uggs are sooooo last year! hahaha.

I got a pair of faux-uggs 2 years ago from Old navy for like $5. They are mega-comfy and I could care less if I get slush on them.

I also scored an awesome pair of semi-slouchy black suede NEW made-in-italy mid-calf low-heel boots by Talbots at a THRIFT STORE for $7. I wear them ALL THE TIME with cropped jeans/gauchos.

    I NEVER pay retail! ha!

My favorite overpriced boots (you know what a shoe fettish I have) are the ones called uggs that are $120. Seriously I DO like them but they are not even waterproof. They are glorified slippers. $120.....remind me how ridiculous that is if I ever post about wanting a pair.

Don';t laugh, these same boots cost hundreds of euros over here. This will be the third December in a row when I'll be bringing an extra suitcase full of boots ordered by German colleagues for their teenagers ...
