I am an East Coast expatriate hiding out in the Midwest...

I am an urban gal living in the suburbs and occasionally hiding in the country

I am a yoga practitioner, fitness enthusiast, believer in the mind-body-spirit connection...

I am a mid-life "revert" to the Roman Catholic faith in which I was raised and which has become an enormous source of support, encouragement, inspiration, and joy in my life...

I am a mom, sister, daughter, and wife...

I am an explorer; adventurous and curious about the world and people around me...

I am educated in the formal sense but I gain insight through everyday living...

I created this blog at a time of great fear and apprehension in my life. I chose to sustain it because of the discoveries about myself and the world around me that it has revealed.

What you can expect to find here:
  • the documentation of a love-hate relationship with the greater Philadelphia area
  • reminiscing about the good-ole-days (the 80's!)
  • complaints about my various ailments and injuries, both real and imagined
  • pictures and stories of gardening, decorating, shopping, sewing
  • my love of irony
  • links to kooky news stories
  • way too much scatological musing for sane people

    Pain in the...

    ...KNEE.

Ugh. Its my knee again. I had an arthroscopy on my right knee in 2002. Now its acting up again with what seems like the same issue - foreign matter lodged under the patella. Ick. I'm too busy for another surgery!!!!!!!!

Ok, calming down now...at least i was able to get a next-day appointment with an orthopedist. The wonderful doc who worked on my knee last time retired, unfortunatley for me.

After I meet with the new guy (at old guy's former practice,) I'll tell all about him...and his very amusing moniker.

We are similar in more ways than one! I had the same type of surgery in 2004 and just about 4 months ago my knee started getting cranky again. They can't see anything on an MRI so I am dealing with it for now but it really $uck$ when it almost buckles out from underneath me. The dog laughs out loud!

I had one of those in '96, repaired meniscus (sp?) & cleaned out some arthritis. at least they're a *bit* easier to get through than 'regular' type of surgery eh? (or that's what I found anyway). still, I hope it's not necessary for you this time.

Ah!!!!! I had a couple of those done. There's a funny story about me coming home from one and not reacting well to the anesthetic's after-effects. My husband was trying to help me up the hallway (we lived in an apartment at the time), and I refused to use the crutches, instead choosing to hobble up the hall and I threw up on neighbour's front mats.

Hey, I told you I didn't react well to the anesthetic. hee hee. I wonder what they thought when they came out later that day?
