I am an East Coast expatriate hiding out in the Midwest...

I am an urban gal living in the suburbs and occasionally hiding in the country

I am a yoga practitioner, fitness enthusiast, believer in the mind-body-spirit connection...

I am a mid-life "revert" to the Roman Catholic faith in which I was raised and which has become an enormous source of support, encouragement, inspiration, and joy in my life...

I am a mom, sister, daughter, and wife...

I am an explorer; adventurous and curious about the world and people around me...

I am educated in the formal sense but I gain insight through everyday living...

I created this blog at a time of great fear and apprehension in my life. I chose to sustain it because of the discoveries about myself and the world around me that it has revealed.

What you can expect to find here:
  • the documentation of a love-hate relationship with the greater Philadelphia area
  • reminiscing about the good-ole-days (the 80's!)
  • complaints about my various ailments and injuries, both real and imagined
  • pictures and stories of gardening, decorating, shopping, sewing
  • my love of irony
  • links to kooky news stories
  • way too much scatological musing for sane people

    Where is spring?

We got more snow and slush today and over the weekend. And my child contracted yet another school-borne virus. This one causes fever and headaches. Apparently its all over the neighborhood. The fever over 102 and headache combo made me wary of meningitis so I called the pediatrician, who noted that they are "seeing alot of this right now" and all she can do is rest, take children's tylenol, and drink fluids. She seems ok except that her cheeks are flushed from the fever and she's a bit lethargic. Hopefully this will pass soon - as well as this wintry weather.

    Ummm....

    (slinking away...)

I won't comment on the bad weather as I live in a suberb of Dallas, Texas.

It's been in the 70's all week here. (...even over 80 a couple of days the last couple of weeks).

We're having a cold snap. I think it's only going to be in the 60's the next few days...

But don't worry. My time is coming. I'm going to INDIANA for Spring Break! :P (How crazy am I?!)

My mom says if I'm lucky, it might be in the 30's while I'm there in about a week. She doubts it'll be above freezing...

spring usually arrives (ie - when its above 40 degrees here for more than 2 days in a row) in Chicago by mid-March.

I know its not March YET...but it has been a very bitter-cold/snowy February. It has consistently been under our usual temp. averages, which are COLD but not as bad as its been much of the month. They had to close SCHOOLS one day this month because of the COLD temps - not because of snow!

Anyway, 40 degrees really would be WELCOME about now - and it might inch up that way soon - of course accompanied by flooding rains. I can't wait to start mopping my basemebnt!

Never pay attention to the little varmenty groundhog. Let's face it folks spring does not kick in until at least April 1st - at least here in MA. I am just happier it is light out when I go to work at 7:00 AM and when I leave work at 5:00 PM.. Baby steps.

I hope your kiddo feels better soon!

Airborne developed by a school teacher who hated getting sick every year. Sounds like a commercial, but I swear by it. All vitamin, no drugs. BTW that gerbil that predicts the weather said we'd see an early spring
