I am an East Coast expatriate hiding out in the Midwest...

I am an urban gal living in the suburbs and occasionally hiding in the country

I am a yoga practitioner, fitness enthusiast, believer in the mind-body-spirit connection...

I am a mid-life "revert" to the Roman Catholic faith in which I was raised and which has become an enormous source of support, encouragement, inspiration, and joy in my life...

I am a mom, sister, daughter, and wife...

I am an explorer; adventurous and curious about the world and people around me...

I am educated in the formal sense but I gain insight through everyday living...

I created this blog at a time of great fear and apprehension in my life. I chose to sustain it because of the discoveries about myself and the world around me that it has revealed.

What you can expect to find here:
  • the documentation of a love-hate relationship with the greater Philadelphia area
  • reminiscing about the good-ole-days (the 80's!)
  • complaints about my various ailments and injuries, both real and imagined
  • pictures and stories of gardening, decorating, shopping, sewing
  • my love of irony
  • links to kooky news stories
  • way too much scatological musing for sane people

    Spawning

    So I discovered yesterday...

    ...that i am a GRANDMA!

Well, at least a FISH grandma. My minnows had babies - LOTS of babies. The fry are flitting all around the pond; I sure hope at least a few make it to adulthood. I was able to capture two of them and put them in my "indoor" pond (a fishbowl) but I hope they survive in there since they share the aquatic space with a bunch of planaria and "Leechy" the leech.

We had no luck with fish. They all died. (Which is a gentle way of saying I overfed them and killed them, brutally)
Hope you don't end up with blood on your hands.

I'm still waiting on the 'real' grandbaby, but maybe this weekend.

    ...for sure on Monday!

And yeah, you freaked me out, too!!!

Hmm, I'm guessing about 150 fish babies...probably there were more but some have already been eaten.

Your title made me wonder if there was another expatriate on the way. Your first sentence made me think...what?!?! Her daughter is too young...and your third sentence made me laugh! How many fish babies is a lot?

    Congratulations, Granny!

For a minute, you freaked me out. Like maybe you were going to confess to a high school "love child"!
