I am an East Coast expatriate hiding out in the Midwest...

I am an urban gal living in the suburbs and occasionally hiding in the country

I am a yoga practitioner, fitness enthusiast, believer in the mind-body-spirit connection...

I am a mid-life "revert" to the Roman Catholic faith in which I was raised and which has become an enormous source of support, encouragement, inspiration, and joy in my life...

I am a mom, sister, daughter, and wife...

I am an explorer; adventurous and curious about the world and people around me...

I am educated in the formal sense but I gain insight through everyday living...

I created this blog at a time of great fear and apprehension in my life. I chose to sustain it because of the discoveries about myself and the world around me that it has revealed.

What you can expect to find here:
  • the documentation of a love-hate relationship with the greater Philadelphia area
  • reminiscing about the good-ole-days (the 80's!)
  • complaints about my various ailments and injuries, both real and imagined
  • pictures and stories of gardening, decorating, shopping, sewing
  • my love of irony
  • links to kooky news stories
  • way too much scatological musing for sane people

Where is Joy Mangano when I need her?

I am procrastinating on a major closet overhaul I need to do in my daughters room. Her room is tiny -  one dresser, one bookshelf and a bed are about all that fit in there - so a functional closet is a must-have. I promised her I would get it done before tomorrow afternoon. And I am sure I will.

I am just hung up (pardon the pun) on what format to use. It is a square shape, so I was going to to do a wire shelving unit that wrapped around the corner and across one side, but now I suspect that her clothes would not fit well in the corner space, so why hunt around for that piece of the puzzle?

I may buy a pre-configured system with hanging space and some shelves, but she REALLY needs the hanging space, as she is not of an age yet where she can/will fold sweaters or other knit tops to put on a shelf.

I guess I will just have to measure twice and go to home depot to see what is available and then do my best. I may splurge on some huggable hangers, though as I can testify: THEY ROCK THE CLOSET!

This whole post makes me cry. My daughter's room is a hazard. She has too much STUFF. When you get done over there, could you come over here? I think I'd feel much better. K?

Good luck with that! I feel your pain. Our 3 boys all share one room! True, they have the master bedroom while the husband and I have the little kid room in the back of the house, but still.

I imagine, though, that three boys sharing a large closet is about the same as a one girl closet!

Huggable hangers: I learned something new.
